IMPORTANT NOTICE:
American Heart Association
Submission Process Has Changed

The method for submitting grants to The American Heart Association has changed from previous years. The actual submission to The American Heart Association is done electronically by the Institution. It will be to your advantage to have your application submitted in electronic form to the Office of Grants Management in final form no later than January 19, 2009. This will allow sufficient time for review and submission to The American Heart Association by their deadline.

Notice of Revised NIH Public Access Policy

NIH issued a revised Public Access policy on January 11, 2008. The policy is in effect and requires submission of final, peer-reviewed manuscripts accepted for publication on/after April 7, 2008 resulting from NIH-funded research. Any article supported all or in part by an NIH grant must be submitted to PubMed Central (PMC) within 12 months of its publication date.

Effective May 25, 2008, anyone submitting an application, proposal, or progress report to the NIH must include the PMC or NIH Manuscript Submission reference number when citing applicable articles that arise from their NIH-funded research.

For your resource convenience, the staff at the U T Southwestern Library has compiled a very useful “NIH Public Access Policy Guide”. The Guide provides useful links and “How-To” information to help meet the requirements of the revised NIH policy. For more information regarding this Library service, contact Tracey Minzenmayer at 214/648-9173.
